Earlier in the year I went to the Triples wargames show in Sheffield I found the great collection of fantasy figures that Rapier Miniatures sell (it took me ages to find the name of the company, as I couldn't recall their signage from the day) - they have a wonderful selection of witches of various types. I decided to pick up this classic Snow White/Evil Queen-incognito witch with a bushel of apples! I figured that she'd work well in fantasy RPG settings or even in my dark age games as the village crone...
Thoughts, comments, suggestions? All are welcome!
Nice work and nice find for the mini. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect for Frostgrave?
I did think that! In fact, when I went to the show I was on the lookout for cheap/interesting magic-users - the only thing I lack is an abundance of suitable apprentices!
DeleteExcellent job dude! Cool looking but creepy mini!
ReplyDeleteCheers Brummie!
DeleteDelicious poisoned apple for the missus? Cheap at twice the price!
ReplyDeleteVery cool fig. I like how the fruit colours jump out against the otherwise flat colours. The ground colouring is a bit too close to the robe/boot I think....maybe a quality of the photo lighting though?
The green scrub looks good as well.
Yeah, the fruit is the real focal point! I used red and green ink as a glaze on them, which is why they've turned out so vivid. I'm very happy about them - I see what you mean about her feet blending into the base, it's not as bad in real life :) Thanks for the kind comments and feedback!
DeleteWow! I love this sculpt! rapier miniatures.... wonder if they ship to the US cheaply?
ReplyDeleteTheir website is pretty antiquated, I would assume that the shipping to deliver abroad may be pricey, but the cheap figure might make up for it! They have a lovely random range of fantasy stuff! I'm looking forward to painting the foxes and cats from Rapier too!
DeleteAdded to the "Definitely need to buy list". Nice work!
