Ogre Chieftain Borlag - Reaper Bones

Chieftain Borlag, Meal-Bringer of the Walking Fist tribe
I love the idea behind the Reaper Bones line - the lovely sculpts of Reaper in a super-cheap, afforable and durable material - brilliant! This is the first figure from the line that I've purchased, an Ogre Chieftain sculpted by Jason Wiebe. Lovely sculpt and he'll fit nicely alongside some greenskins in my Fantasy Skirmish setting.
This was my first exposure to the Bones material - it reminds me of the slightly rubbery plastic that you see a lot of action figure arms and components done in. Clean-up was easy - the details aren't quite as crisp as you would find on a metal miniature, but this is massively outweighed by the cost - the moldlines cleaned up nicely. I also got rid of the face that was on the club - I'd guess this was meant to be a magical weapon of some sort, but I decided that I'd rather have it a bit more standard.

I'd definitely buy more from this range - I was over the moon to see the Kickstarter to expand the range go so amazingly! I didn't end up kicking any money into it, just because of the sheer volume of stuff I didn't really need (and having a massive lead/plastic mountain already built up!) but I will purchase a bunch of different stuff - especially the fire and ice giants, the "elder god" (Cthulhu!) and various others. Highly recommended!

  2. I am after one of these myself to check out the detail. the bones trolls have pretty much the same level of detail as the metal, but due to the mini not being as bedecked with details as the ogre is, that could explain it.
really looking forward to all the bones stuff as it is released. it is an interesting material.

    1. Yeah - it'll suit less-detailed miniatures brilliantly! I noticed some slight issues with this one on the harness (there was a tooth hanging on it that was partially obscured, I had to check pictures online to figure out what it was meant to be). Very minor stuff though. I love the material really.

  3. Love this fig, great paint too. So for those of us getting 100+ figs in March, sounds like we won't be too let down by the material?
