I absolutely love all these Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns that are being started up at the moment! There are some fantastic smaller companies being started up or pushed further by the potential of these sites. Case in point, my favourite source for modern zombies - Studio Miniatures.
I put forward $30 the other day towards funding the new plastic zombies - for $30 you get 40 multipart plastic zombies, plus whatever extras that will be made available with stretch goals - for example, for reaching their first target ($5000) they give a zombie George Romero to all pledgers, then other extras for other milestones ($7500, $10000 etc.) - they currently have some extra heads for variety planned.
I'm especially chuffed about the Romero zombie - they've had this as an extra for buying a couple of their zombie packs for a while, but I hadn't gotten round to purchasing them. This has made my day! Check out the funding drive for the brilliant zombies here.

Wound Markers Tutorial
I absolutely love this idea for wound markers from Anatoli's Game Room - I ordered a couple of sets of the plastic counters from em4 miniatures straight away when Anatoli directed me to his tutorial. Time to break out the red ink or Tamiya clear red!
I obviously couldn't resist adding to the leadpile whilst ordering - I have some Celtic-lookin' humans for my next faction for Skulldred/SoBH (from the big pile of Celtos figures purchased from a friend). They needed a bit of back-up - I thought these classic (Grenadier originally, according to their bases) Wood Elves could work nicely! Lovely figures, lovely price (£1.28 each!) - the leader in particular is a fantastic figure! So my current plan is Celtic humans + Wood Elf alliance, led by the GW Albion Truthsayer...

Company Spotlight: Warploque Miniatures
I've been meaning to order something from Warploque Miniatures for a good while now - WarplockMonkey has some real skill when it comes to anatomy.
I love the monster-hunting not-Van Pelt (from Jumanji), the heads for the future Minotaur (available as a bits pack, with a boar, elk and classic bull), the brilliant giant and in particular; the halflings!
I've been on a real hobbit/halfling fix recently, as I've been listening to the audiobook version of Fellowship of the Ring whilst painting - I'm very much looking forward to Warploque releasing the halflings they're currently on with - the Poacher and Trollhound in particular! You can see what's coming up next on the WIP Warploque thread on WarSeer.![]() |
